Be Honest With Yourself
You know how much time you have available to dedicate to cleaning. Make your resolution within the parameters of what’s realistic. Don’t set goals you can’t keep. Take a good look at your available time and make goals that you have time to accomplish. If you don’t have time for cleaning personally, then it may be time to start thinking of hiring a cleaning service.
Be Specific
Be specific about what needs to be accomplished. It’s not enough to vaguely vow to keep a cleaner house – you won’t know if you’re succeeding in your goal unless you’re more specific about what needs to be done. Maybe your goal is to clean your bathroom twice as often, or perhaps you’d like to clean under every bed at least once monthly. Set specific parameters that you can revisit to decide whether you’re keeping your resolution.
Outline a Plan of Action
Once you know what your goal is, it’s important to know how you plan to accomplish it. When will the cleaning be done? Who will do it? Will you need a special tool or cleaning product? Creating a plan gets you closer to accomplishing your goal in 2023.
Track Your Progress
Create some way of tracking when your goal is accomplished. For example, if your goal is to clean the bathroom twice per week, put check marks in your calendar that allow you to track when the work is being done. You can also keep a cleaning journal to document your work.
Line Up Rewards
Rewards for a job well done make work more fun. Decide how you’ll reward yourself when the work is accomplished, whether it’s with a cup of ice cream, or a celebratory nap. Whatever your reward, it will help you get through your chore until it’s finished.
