The kitchen can be a difficult place to clean. Splatters of grease can dirty most surfaces, while heat from the oven and cooktop can make grease more difficult to remove. There are many things you can do to clean your kitchen, and you don’t even need expensive cleaning products or heavy-duty chemicals to get the job done. Here’s what you need to know.

Unclog a Kitchen Drain

You don’t need chemical treatments for your clogged drains. To remove mild to moderate clogs, pour boiling water down the drain and chase it with a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar. The solution will bubble and then settle down. Follow that with more boiling water and allow it to sit. Repeat as needed.

Get Your Oven as Good As New

Mix baking soda, white vinegar, and water together to make a paste, then apply the paste to your oven. Leave the paste on overnight. In the morning, dampen a cloth with hot water to wipe down all the surfaces. If the hot cloth doesn’t work, you’ll need scouring pads to get the job done. To make your oven easier to clean in the future, line the oven with aluminum oven liners.

Freshen Up Your Garbage Can

Combine hot water and a half cup of bleach into your garbage can, and then allow the solution to sit overnight. Use a scrub brush to clean the interior of the garbage can after the bleach and water have done their work. To prevent your garbage from becoming smelly later, sprinkle the inside of the garbage can with baking soda before putting in the garbage bag. The baking soda will absorb the odors.

Cut the Grease from Your Windows

Combine dish soap and warm water into a spray bottle and spray the grease on the windows. Finally, wipe away the water with a squeegee. Do this periodically to remove grease and keep your windows clean.

A Clean Microwave Made Easy

Microwave a bowl of water with three tablespoons of white vinegar. When the water starts to boil and the door of the microwave steams up, this is when it’s ready to clean. Wipe down the inside of your microwave and remove all the food caked in the surroundings. The steam will soften the food while the vinegar will deodorize the microwave as well.
