1. Make Your Bed
A well-made bed can transform your entire bedroom. If you’re not in the habit of making your bed every day, get in the habit. You’ll feel better about yourself, and you’ll enjoy getting into bed at the end of the day. You may need to get up a few minutes early every morning. It’s worth it!
2. Put Away Your Clothes
Never let clothes lay around in your bedroom. If you’ve just taken clothes off your body, put them away either in your closet, dresser, or in the laundry basket.
Only do laundry when you have time to put it away the same day. Don’t do laundry if it means that the basket of clothes will sit in your living room or bedroom for days until you can fold it and put it away.
3. Run the Dishwasher at Night
Nothing is more frustrating than waking up in the morning and realizing that you forgot to run the dishwasher again. Set an alarm on your phone to run your dishwasher every night. Never let dirty dishes sit in your dishwasher for longer than a few hours.
4. Clear and Wipe Kitchen Counters
Ideally, you’ll clear and wipe your kitchen counters at the end of every meal. If you don’t have time, then you should at least clean the counters at the end of every evening. One caveat: if you work with raw meat during any of your meals, don’t wait until the end of the day to clean your counters. Get it done now!
5. Go Through Mail As You Get It
A lot of people let the mail build up on their counter or on their table. This makes a big mess that’s always in the way. Go through your mail as soon as it comes. Get rid of it or respond to it, to prevent a pile from building up.
6. Limit What Goes In the Junk Drawer
Before throwing something in the junk drawer, evaluate whether you need it at all. This will keep your junk drawer from filling up with things you just don’t need.
